Jeri, a Raleigh, NC native, began her career in the Greensboro, North Carolina area as a middle school teacher. She has experience both in and outside of the classroom over the past 20 years spanning Kindergarten to Higher Education. Her areas of expertise include instructional technology, STEM education, and personalized learning. Given an opportunity to lead a district-wide initiative, she worked as one of the coordinators for a grant-funded personalized learning and technology initiative.
Following the grant-funded work, she worked with a team of educational technology consultants at Kennesaw State University, serving several local secondary schools in the Atlanta area. Following her time at Kennesaw, Jeri was chosen to join a team of educators as the Instructional Technology Consultant in launching a K-5 university-run lab school at her beloved alma mater, the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG), where she led a one-to-one Apple integration initiative. In 2020, Jeri joined Apple Education as a Professional Learning Specialist working exclusively with Norfolk State University’s Spartan Innovation Academy initiative to foster innovation and creativity among higher education faculty, staff, and students using Apple products.
Jeri holds undergraduate and master's degrees in Elementary and Middle Grades Education from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (Go Spartans!). Her graduate-level concentrations are in Reading Education and Instructional Technology, awarded from UNCG and East Carolina University (Go Pirates!), respectively. She recently earned her doctorate in Instructional Design and Technology from Old Dominion University (Go Monarchs!), and her research focused on the lived experiences of marginalized pre-service teachers and their epistemological beliefs about digital competence.
In her free time, Jeri enjoys reading, fitness, traveling, and crafting. She also finds comfort in gardening, being a self-proclaimed foodie, spending time with family, and volunteering in the local community.
